Language Creation
Adah develops her own special language by thinking of everything backward and forward. Split the students into several groups and have them create their own language. Once they have decided on what their language is, have other groups see if they can decode the language and translate what the group wrote.
Character Letters
Choose one character from the book. Write a letter from the perspective of the character to someone else (for example, a friend in Georgia) about one or more of the events that take place in the book. Describe the event from the perspective and feelings of that character.
