In Chapter One of "Pnin", the reader is introduced to Professor Timofey Pnin. The author provides a lot of information about the character's personality in this first chapter. The purpose of this lesson is to analyze the character of Pnin from Chapter One.

1) Round-robin Class Discussion - Have the students put their desks in a big circle, each student in turn shares something about the topic.

Where does Pnin teach?

Where is Pnin headed to on the train in Chapter One?

What kind of teacher is Pnin?

How well does Pnin speak English?
