Spiritual Song

In this play, music plays a large part in the story, and many characters write songs to express their feelings. Write a song in the voice of one of the characters expressing what that character desires in life. Put the song to music and perform it for your class.

Film Version

Watch one of the many film versions of "The Piano Lesson" and write a short essay comparing/contrasting the two versions.

Drama

Choose one of the scenes in the novel to act out with your classmates. Each student in the group should be a part of dividing up the lines and all should speak in the scene. Have each group give a performance of their scene in front of the class on the last day of the unit.
