1. Explain the relationship between Jamey and Alex.
Alex is a psychologist who currently has a private practice. Jamey Cadmus is one of Alex's former patients. Alex treated Jamey half a decade ago when Jamey was part of a research study entitled Project 160. Jamey is a very withdrawn person, but found friendship and comfort in his relationship with Alex.
2. Describe the event that takes place in the middle of the night at the beginning of the story.
At the beginning of the story, Alex is woken up in the middle of the night by a phone call. He takes the call in his library and learns that the caller is his former patient, Jamey Cadmus. Jamey's speech is incoherent and he continues to speak of glass canyons, white zombies and needle games. Alex realizes Jamey is in a hospital and is having a hallucination. The phone line goes dead before Alex can learn anything helpful about Jamey's safety and condition.
