Objective
In this chapter, Judy writes about the way that she and her husband moved through several different churches before settling on First Christian Church. In this lesson, students should research some of the major religions practiced in the United States and discuss the main differences.
Lesson
1) Group research - Teacher should choose several different religious denominations for students to research. These can include: Baptist, church of Christ, Catholic, Lutheran, Disciples of Christ, Methodist, First Christian, Episcopalian, etc. One denomination should be assigned to each student or group of students. Students should research the background of each denomination and note some of the defining beliefs of each denomination.
2) Class presentation - Each group of students should present their findings for the class. As each group presents, they should list the defining characteristics of the denomination they researched on the board.
