Objective
The objective of this lesson is to examine how Perez uses artistic license to make the first 70 pages of Out of Darkness realistic. Artistic license is the way that an author creates art, music, or writing based on her interpretation. Artistic license allows an author to broadly relate details about culture, society, people, government, or other elements in order to make a story seem as though it is true or could have been true.
