Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Jude's relationship with Baba, her father. Baba is not a talkative man, but Jude knows he loves her, and she senses that he likes when she visits his shop that sells sweets, newspapers, and other goods. But Jude also knows that Baba does not fully understand or approve of the fact that she, her best friend Fatima, and her brother Issa are so enamored with American films and some parts of American pop culture; Jude knows that Baba is more conservative.
