Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author’s, Gabriela Garcia, background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in Of Women and Salt. Students will discuss and research information like where the author is from, how old she is and what other books or stories the author has published. Students will consider how this information might impact their reading
Lesson
Class Discussion: Who is the author of Of Women and Salt? Where is she from? What year was the novel published? How was this work received by the public? What other works has the author written? How might the author’s background influence your reading of the story?
Small Group Activity: Divide students into small groups and ask students to compile a list of facts about the author, encouraging them to include information that impacts the stories, themes, and characters...
