Lesson 1 (from Part I (Not Exactly Guilty - Turning Back, Pages 1 - 54))
Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Applegate's explanation of the predator/prey dynamic in Odder's world in Part I. In Part I, Applegate toggles between Odder and Kairi and the famished shark who is hunting for food. The shark mistakes the two little otters for food, and even though it realizes quickly it does not really want to eat them, it is terrifying for Odder and Kairi.
