Lesson

1) Discussion: Have the class agree upon what a memoir is. What is the purpose of a memoir?

2) Classwork: Have the students write a short memoir based on their own experiences. Is writing a memoir easier or harder than fiction? Explain.

3) Homework: Have the students find a piece of literature that is labeled as a memoir. How does this compare to the way that Odd wrote his own memoir? Speculate on the main reasons for this differences or explain how they are similar. These differences should be focused on differences in structure, grammar and other literary tools and not the actual contents of the story.
