Nostromo
This Italian sailor has settled in Sulaco on the advice of his friend. His name is a corruption of the Italian word for "Our Man." He often does dangerous favors for the aristocracy.
Captain Joseph Mitchell
He takes great pride in his work and in the reputation of his company. The most important thing for him is his own honor and he is quick to take offense when he feels he has been dishonored. He takes the credit for all of Nostromo's actions and gives very little thought to Nostromo's safety.
President Ribiera
He comes to power during a brief peaceful and idealistic moment of Costaguana history. He follows a line of evil tyrants and is expected to bring democracy to this troubled country. He is highly respected abroad and manages to win a lot of overseas investment in his country.
