Make a collage from magazines that represents one of the characters. Chose pictures that represent many aspects of Estelle, Inez or Garcin. You might also use text.

Write a love poem from Roger to Estelle, or from Inez to Florence. What kinds of things do you think these four said to each other and how would you come up with poetic ideas or symbols to use in the poem?

Set practice

Rearrange chairs and desks in the classroom in the shape this set, with space for an audience and desks and chairs set up like the sofas. Ask students to take turns reading passages aloud while the rest of class serves as the audience.
