Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Hudes's mother Virginia's gifts of premonition as Virginia explains them to Hudes. In Part I, a very young Hudes is fascinated to hear her mother's stories of having predicted neighbors' deaths and had what appear to be divinely-inspired visions as a child herself in Puerto Rico. The visions seem related to the blooming of a magnolia tree in Virginia's childhood yard, as they cease once the tree is felled.
