Lesson 1 (from Part I (Chapters 1 - 3))
Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze the purpose of Areum's writing project about his parents' and family's history. In Part I, Areum embarks on a purposeful mission to find out details about his parents' story and his own origin story. Through Areum's eyes, Kim informs the reader about Mira's and Daesu's decisions, hopes, and dreams as young teenagers facing an unplanned pregnancy, developing their characters more thoroughly.
