1. Which character does middle sister suspect of having started a rumor about herself and an older man?

Though middle sister cannot know for sure, she suspects that first brother-in-law, her arch-nemesis within the family, had started the rumor. In part, her suspicion stems from the constant sexual comments and inappropriate touch that have characterized first brother-in-law's behavior with middle sister since she was 12 years old. Regardless of the rumor's source, it spreads rapidly as the whole district engages in gossip about middle sister and the milkman having an affair.
