Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss Franny's desire to follow the terns, and what is revealed about extinction. There is one last flock of Arctic terns left. Franny wants to follow those birds before they are gone forever.

How many wild things remain? Why is there limited funding to save the birds? Why does Franny know that humans will soon be alone on the Earth? How were the storm petrols Niall took Franny to see the last of their kind? How do the extinctions affect Franny's actions? Where does she go? What is reported about the terns along the coast of Greenland? Why will the terns she sees in Greenland be the last to migrate...
