1. Who is Isabella Swan?

Isabella Swan is a new student at the Forks High School. She is the daughter of the town's chief of police. She prefers the nickname Bella, to her first name. She has come to Forks by some new custody situation. She had lived with her mother before.

2. Why does Edward want to transfer out of biology?

Bella is in Edward's biology class. Every time he is near Bella, the scent of her blood nearly drives him mad. He is afraid that if he is around her, he will not be able to resist killing her, so he wants to transfer out of biology.

3. In Chapter 2, where does Edward go and why?

Edward leaves Forks and goes to the Denali wilderness to avoid Bella and to do some thinking. After six days, he is still struggling to know what to do. He considers going back and facing the difficulty, but he is not sure he has the courage to face it. He misses his family, so finally he decides to return.
