Objective

Transformation is a topic and theme that pervades this novel. From the very beginning of the novel, we are encouraged to consider the ways that the narrator transforms from a girl into a boy. The objective of this lesson is to encourage students to think about what transformation is and begin predicting the ways that the narrator will transform throughout the novel.
