Modern Chorus
This is a recurring opportunity that keeps the students creatively involved and competitive throughout the analysis of the play, and can be done after reading each section.
Divide the class randomly into groups of between 3-5 students. Have the students work together, outside class, to create a "modern" retelling of the chorus's ode at the end of Part 1. This can be done via chant, poem, song, etc. Do a competition in-class, with the group voted as having the best modern chorus receiving extra credit.
The Disney Effect
Tragedies are much less common in modern "plays" i.e., movies. Rewrite the end of the play to have a "Hollywood" or "Disney" type ending in which everyone is happy and the hero(es) ride off into the sunset, figuratively speaking.
