Objective
This objective of this Daily Lesson is to help students better understand the setting of the story. The setting of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is an inner-city high school and its surrounding communities in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Lesson
Class Discussion: Have the students answer the following questions: What is the setting of the story? How does the narrator describe the setting? How important is the setting to the story? Why?
Small Group Activity: Split the students into small groups and have them choose an aspect of the setting to discuss. They should then answer the following questions: what aspect of the setting have you chosen? What does Greg say about this? How does this influence the story and the various characters the reader has met up to this point?
Individual Activity: Have the students answer the following questions: Besides the setting, what other information...
