"Maurice" is a novel about a man trying to come to terms with his own sexuality in a society where homosexuality is forbidden. In studying the era and the attitudes towards sex, the students will have a better understanding of the struggle the main character undergoes in the novel. The objective of this lesson is to study society's views on homosexuality in the early 1900s consider how this may affect the main character.
