E. M. Forster Biography
Have the students get to know Forster by reading a short biography about him. Make sure the students understand the era that he was writing in and his influences.
Dress Up
Have the students come to class dressed up as characters from the novel. (If possible, try to use some time to research the clothing of the era beforehand.) Have the students interact with one another as the characters they dress as, and it's okay to have more than one Maurice!
Word Worm
Have the students scour the book for a word or phrase they are unfamiliar with. Have them look up the term or phrase, and put it in context. Next, have the students stand in front of the class and present their research, and make sure they read the sentence of the book they found it in.
