Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the authors' background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the book. John Lewis was an American statesman and a prominent leader in the American civil rights movement of the 1960s. During that time, he served as chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Lewis served 17 terms in the U.S. House or Representatives. Lewis died in July of 2020, of complications with pancreatic cancer. Andrew Aydin is an American comics writer. He served as Digital Director and Policy Advisor to Georgia congressman John Lewis.
