• In Los Angeles, Eileen Hancock is stuck in traffic, while in the wastelands of the Soviet Union, Dr. Leonilla Alexandrovna Malik treats children.

• Leonilla is disappointed that she is having no opportunities to do the job she's trained for - an astronaut.
