The Rules

This is a series of directions written for what to do. The narrator explains this to explain his actions to himself and others. The narrator learned this from his older brother, who learned this from his father.

Elevator

This is what the narrator uses to go from the eighth floor to the ground floor of his apartment building. It is also a structuring device for the whole novel.

Gun

This is what the narrator takes from his brother's middle drawer. The narrator tucks this item into the back of his pants and covers it with his shirt to find his brother's killer.

Teeth
