Anonymous Letters

Law Kincaid reenters Marnie Hibbs' life because of some anonymous letters. Have students discuss reasons why someone might write an anonymous letter. Students should discuss the impact of anonymous letters on the recipients and the motivations behind such letters. The students could then write anonymous letters to one another and try to figure out who wrote the letters and why.

Summer Romance

David's conception came about because of a summer romance. Have students discuss other stories that have summer romance as a theme or element within the story and compare and contrast these other stories to Law and Sharon's story. Have students discuss the success and failure rate of such relationships and the impact these relationships might have on a person. Students could also write a short story or essay relating the story of a summer romance based in fact or fiction.
