Lesson 1 (from Chapters 1-4)
Objective
The objective of this lesson is to discuss the point of view of the novel in Chapters 1-4 of Listen, Slowly, and how it influences the story. In Chapters 1-4, Mai is the narrator and the story is told from her first-person point of view. What a reader knows about events and characters is determined by the point of view. Point of view determines how readers view the story and the characters in a narrative.
