1. Describe Clay's day traveling from New Hampshire to Los Angeles.
At the airport in New Hampshire, mud splattered on the legs of Clay's jeans, which felt cold and loose. Clay's ride on the plane was rough because a couple from Santa Barbara, who were sitting across from him in first class, had gotten pretty drunk. His shirt was damp and wrinkled by the time he reached Los Angeles and his gray argyle sweater had a rip in it.
2. How was the house when Clay arrived home? Who was home to greet him?
Blair drops Clay off at his mother's house which is empty but the air conditioner is on and the house smells like pine. The house is immaculate and Clay is alone except for the new cleaning woman whom Clay has never met. Apparently, Clay's mother and sisters are out Christmas shopping.
