Getting into Character
Using butcher paper, select one of the major characters from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Draw the character to your size, making them life size. Add six important characteristics of the characters in the drawing including an enormous appetite (in Ichabod's case) or strong muscles (like Brom's). Be sure to try to make the character life-like and true to the descriptions in the story.
Poem Power
Write a continuation of the poem at the beginning of the story using iambic pentameter. Be sure to capture the mood and dialect of the poem in your continuation. Remember, you're the character from the 1700s. A variation of this assignment would be to create a new poem at the end of the story that speaks of Ichabod's disappearance.
