Lesson 1 (from Part I (Pages 1 - 36))

Objective

The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Adam's attitude towards his fellowship. In Part I, Adam feels like a fraud, wondering why the foundation awarded him the fellowship and feeling as if he is not really worthy of it. Instead of engaging in any real work or research, he largely spends his days at this stage visiting art museums and taking drugs.

Lesson

Class Discussion: What is Adam's fellowship focused on? How does he feel about the foundation and the fellowship itself? What does he spend most of his time doing, and why?
