Objective
The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze Hough's experience on Shaw Air Force Base following the torching of her car. Prior to the incident, Hough had been receiving notes that contained death threats and references to her being gay. Someone had also slashed all four of her tires in the weeks before the incident. The local police and the Air Force investigators all treated Hough as if she was a suspect herself in the incident from the beginning.
