Objective
Objective: Anton Chekhov: As an introduction to the study of The Lady with the Pet Dog, today's class will examine the short story's author, Anton Chekhov. Chekhov was a Russian author, playwright and physician, and was considered to be the greatest short-story writer in the world. In this class, students will research the history of the author and his works, establish the context of his writing, and determine the importance of author biography in literary studies.
