Senses List

Just before Lynn dies, Katie sits still for a while and makes a list of all the things she sees and hears. Have the students do this for a few minutes. Share the lists and discuss what kinds of feelings they gave you.

Altars

Katie makes an altar for Lynn out of a box with some of her favorite possessions. Have the students follow this criteria and make an altar for themselves.

The Shirondas

Split the class into groups and have each group create a musical piece similar to the ones Katie and Silly would do for Lynn. Afterwards, discuss with the class why this would make Lynn so happy.

Action!

Provide the class with a box of random props and have them act out scenes from the book. Award extra credit points to the team with the most points at the end.
