Objective
The genre of this novel is realistic fiction. Although the story is not true, it could happen. In fact, the author weaves some names of people who have lived or are alive today and some events into the novel that have actually happened. The objective of this lesson is to learn about the genre of the novel.
Lesson
1) Research: Research different types of genre and write a definition for the genre that the author uses in the novel.
2) Class Discussion: What is the genre of the novel? Is this a true story, did the events in the story really happen? Could the events in the story happen in real life? Why or why not? What details in the story reflect that the story could have happened? Do the characters seem like people you might meet on the street somewhere? Why or why not?
