Draw a Map
After reading Part I, students should be given the opportunity to draw a map of Alobar's land, Aelfric, etc. using the text as a guide. Where is Rome located in relation to Aelfric? Where is Egypt?
News Article
Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the novel and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain how it relates to the novel.
Draw a Character
Have students draw their interpretation of a character from the novel. Artistic ability is not important but drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the character, whether the character is fat or thin, bald, prim or slovenly. What colors does the character wear?
