1. Who is Mr. Zuss?

Mr. Zuss is one of the narrator characters in the play. When Mr. Zuss first appears, it is as a balloon seller. However, he quickly comes to represent God in the story of Job; or at least the arguments of God in the story of Job. Mr. Zuss furthers his position as God by wearing the God-mask. Mr. Zuss' name also resembles the name of the Greek god, Zeus. Zeus was similar in characteristics to the Judeo-Christian God that Mr. Zuss plays in this play.

2. Who is Mr. Nickles?

Mr. Nickles is one of the narrator characters in the play. Mr. Nickles first appears as a popcorn seller. However, he comes to represent Satan, evil, and the arguments that Satan makes in the story of Job. Mr. Nickles is further confirmed as Satan when he puts on the Satan-mask. Mr. Nickles' name even represents money (nickel) which is tied to greed, sin, and Satan.
