Introduction
"Infidel" is the autobiography of Somali-Dutch feminist, atheist activist, writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The book details the author's struggles through a tumultuous life of moving from one country to another and experiencing personal and political strife. The book was well received upon the release of the English edition in 2007. In this lesson, students are introduced to the book and will research and discuss author Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Lesson
1) Teacher Lecture: Introduce the students to the book and author. "Infidel" is a nonfiction autobiography by Somali-Dutch feminist, atheist activist, writer and politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
2) Research Activity: Allow students time in the beginning of class to conduct independent research on the author. When and where was the author born? When did she begin her political career?
3) Group Activity: Following the research activity, students are to gather into small groups of 3-4 each to discuss...
