Letter Writing

Have the students write letters from one person in In Cold Blood to another. In this case, the students could write jail letters or letters from the killers to the victims apologizing.

Conclusion

Have the students write a different conclusion to the book. Have them share their conclusions with the class and take a class vote on who wrote the best alternate conclusion for the book.

Book Jackets

Have the students design a new and exciting book jacket which includes the front cover, back cover, author blurb, and short blurb summarizing the story.

Map It

Have the students use a map of North America to chart the travels of Smith and Hickock. Have the students use string and push pins to label the various routes they took. The students could number the push pins to show the order of events.
