A Victorian Era in this Century

Show the class a clip from Far from Heaven or an episode of Mad Men. Ask the class to point out cultural similarities between the late 1950's in America and the Victorian Era in England. Then, compare England's place in the world in the that later 1900's and America's place in the late 1950's.

Cast a Movie

Have each class plan a movie of the play. Each student should choose choose a cast of actors for the roles. Encourage creative casting decisions (different ages, multicultural).

A Modern Production

Brainstorm with the class what a modern production of the play might look like. Start with the themes of the play, and from there decide what a fun and exciting newer setting might be for the production. Begin broad, with a country and a time period.
