This is a Confederate graveyard in Petersburg, Virginia. The remains of about 30,000 soldiers are buried there.
Galveston Island
This is a small piece of land off the coast of Southeast Texas. It is believed to be where General Gordon Granger made the announcement that slavery had ended.

This is a large metropolitan area where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Smith took a “walking tour on slavery and the Underground Railroad” (207) there.
