• This book is written from the first person perspective and mostly in the present tense, unless otherwise noted. Each very short chapter is titled, and where the titles are re-used/the same, the page numbers are noted.
• The Prologue is titled "New Country." In the first section, "The Photograph," 15 year-old Nima contemplates a photo of her parents before she was born that shows them dancing.
