• The apartment, which he shares with his mother and sisters, is adjacent to his grandparent’s house.
• His grandfather built the apartment.
• The boy can see that there is nobody in his grandparent’s house or his grandfather’s workshop.
• The boy calls out the names of everyone who lives there; he almost calls for his father until he remembers he is in London.
• The narrative shifts to a description of what Hamnet is like at school — smart, but easily distracted, particularly by what he sees or hears outside school walls— a cart traveling down the street, a bird...
