Objective
Students will investigate the setting of "A Special Tree."
"A Special Tree" is set in the foothills of the Himalayas. Understanding this setting is important to understanding the story itself, because the geography, climate, and culture of the area play key roles in the plot. This lesson offers students insight into these aspects of the setting in order to prepare them to read the story.
Lesson
Presentation: Prepare a brief presentation for students to remind them of the definition and importance of setting.
Small Group Research Activity: Divide the class into groups of four. Ask the groups to divide up and answer the following research questions:
