Understanding the Foster System

Have someone come to class to talk about the foster system. This can be someone who was in the foster system as a youth, a foster parent, or a representative from your local agency.

Venn Diagram

Draw two large circles on a piece of paper held landscape style. The circles must intercept in the middle. On top of each circle, write the name of a character. Inside the circle, list all the characteristics of that character. In the middle where the circle intersects list any common characteristics the two characters.

Possible characters are:

Gilly/Agnes

Gilly/Miss Harris

Mrs Trotter/Mr. Randolph

Word Web

On a piece of paper list an assortment of character names, locations, and items from the novel. Each is written in a different font and size. The students are to connect any of these that are associated with one another...
