The book is written in third person. The majority of the point of view is limited to the perspective of Jean Louise, meaning the reader knows only what Jean Louise knows. He lived in a boarding house across the street from Jean Louise and her brother, Jem. He seems to expect that they are going to marry and he mentions it often.
