The Old Man

This character is the 80-year-old antagonist of the play and he has a history of acting as a usurer, among a collection of many other transgressive activities. This character's greed, hunger for power, and determination not to rest until he punishes those he believes have wronged him ultimately define his character. This character remains static throughout the play.

This character is a Sunday child, which means that he can see events that have not yet happened. He is also in touch with the spirit world in a deeper way than people not born on a Sunday. For example, this character can see and hear another character within the narrative that no one else can see. This character changes a great deal over the course of the play.
