1. How does Xeones come to be in the Persian camp?

Xeones dies on the field of battle at Thermopylae. He is sent back to the land of the living by the God Apollo to tell the story of the Spartans. He is then captured by Persians and begins to tell his story.

2. How does Xeones begin his story?

Xeones first describes Thermopylae and tells that every Spartan soldier traveled with at least one helot servant. He then flashes back to his childhood and tells of the sacking of his childhood city.
