Objective
Students will explore their ideas about creativity in the classroom.
Even in the time in which Frindle was written, real-life language arts teachers might have chosen to react differently to an expression of student creativity from the way Mrs. Granger reacts in this book. Her teaching philosophy seems to belong to a much older time, before the importance of flexible, creative thinking in the classroom was well understood. This lesson offers students some background on the value of creativity and asks them to think about how to manage its expression productively.
