Masks
When studying the lesson plan relating to Jack, or The Submission, students may be given the opportunity to create, with paper mache, their own masks to represent the characters. These masks can be employed in several of the following exercises.
Draw a Character
Have students draw their interpretation of a character from one of the plays. Artistic ability is not important, but their drawings must reflect the type of costume worn by the character, whether the character is fat or thin, bald, prim or slovenly. What colors do the characters wear?
Draw a Set
Students are given time to create their own vision of the set for one of the plays. How would they design it? How would they envision the lighting and set changes? They can write descriptions if they don't feel comfortable with artistic rendering.
