Objective
The objective of this lesson is to consider just what the narrator learns in the story "How to Transform an Everyday, Ordinary Hoop Court into a Place of Higher Learning and You at the Podium."
The narrator of this short story sets out to improve his basketball game over the summer between his eighth and ninth grade years. He manages to do this, but he learns a number of other lessons as well. Students should be encouraged to look beyond the most obvious way the narrator has improved. In addition, they might be asked to think about how the different lessons the narrator learns work together.
